Contact Lens Prescription vs. Spectacle Prescription

Contact lens prescription does differ from spectacle prescription, mainly due to the distance between the spectacle and your eyes.

For those with spectacle prescription less than -4.00 D, the difference is insignificant. Patients can choose to wear either the same prescription or slightly lower. Spectacle prescription of -4.00D above, the difference with contact lens prescription will become more significant.

The chart below, is a conversion chart of spectacle prescription to contact lens prescription.

(-) Minus prescription is refer for short sighted or myopia. (+) Plus precription is refer for long sighted or hyperopia.

Besides that, a simple calculation can be done to determine your contact lens prescription (as the diagram below)

What if the prescription you are looking for is not available?

1) Try to keep the left-right eye balance 

For example, I am shortsighted and have a left eye spectacle prescription of -6.00, which according to the chart, it is -5.62, my right eye is -5.25, according to the chart I need -5.00. 

I would like to keep my left - right eye difference ( which is now by a 0.75 difference) 

So I choose  -5.75 for my left, and -5.00 for my right. 

2) Try to choose the power closest to your prescribed power. 

So some contact brands does not have -5.75 prescriptions. They only have -5.50 or -6.00. 

So I decide to go with -5.50 instead of -6.00, because my real prescription according to chart is -5.62 (closer to -5.50 an further to -6.00)

3) Go with your feeling. 

Sometimes you just need to try to know which one is better. Just try and feel it out. Order both prescriptions and try them out for a day.

Hello! I bought the lens for Halloween and quite surprised about how comfy and bright they are. These lens are really red. These ones have a black ring outside. Got them for $21.95 from Candylens

The design of these lens are nice bright red colour, with a black ring on the outside. I love the intensity of these lens, they are definately not natural colour. (Well, if you are thinking about getting a pair of red lens, the chances are that you don't want natural colour!)

Comfort  ★★★★★
Extremely comfortable! Wear these for 6+ hours and still felt alright. 

Enlargement★★★★☆ 
These are 14.5 mm, the enlargement was big enough for me, but my eyes are on the small side.

The Halloween is coming in two days, I am just as excited as a little kid. I used to feel Halloween is boring and was never a party person, but this year, something in the air make me feel spooky and fun.

What did I use? 

COVERGIRL outlast glosstinis color: black heat (Base coat) 

Coverage: ★★☆☆☆
I needed to apply 2-3 coats to get nails covered. So really low coverage, the instruction also tells you to apply 2-3 coats. So I am not too surprised.


Application: ★☆☆☆☆

Really hard to apply not smooth and it was a little chunky, feels like an old nail polish passed expiration date.


Color /design: ★★★★☆
Color is not bad, the black heat color ended up a deep black with small golden sparkles. Although it is more black than shine. So that's why I topped it with a sparkle coat.


Hardness: ★★☆☆☆
It was kind of a soft coat, I was afraid that it was going to be easily peeled off.

Really easy to apply. Quite smooth (Not as smooth as OPI, of course).

Color /design: ★★★★☆ 
Love the color, one of my favourite from last year. It is a beautiful colour for winter holiday.

Hardness: ★★★★★
It gives a very hard coat. One thing to know is that it is very hard to come off. It took me so much time to clear it out.

As a top coat, it is excellent, because it gave me a really hard coat that prevent chipping. I love the sparkles. I only did one coat of it. 

Coverage: ★★★☆☆ 

I needed to apply 2-3 coats to get the effects in the picture, but that's what all sparkles, shinning nail polishes are like. So no complaints.

Vassen Rainbow Eyes Grayish Blue

I finally got some time to take pictures of my new circle lens from Candylens.

There is a review of Vassen Rainbow Eyes Grayish Blue. I always wanted a pair of light grey lens. The colour looked great. I was worried that it may look weird close up because they looked so fake. However, from distance, the contacts looked wonderful, and I am really happy with the purchase.

Design: ★★★✩✩ 3.5/5  There are a little unnatural looking when you look very close. But from distance, they are very legit gray contacts and opaque. I like the design, but do not love them. The black rings are quite visible, but not in a bad way. 

Comfort ★★★★★ 5/5 Very good! You can't feel them at all. I am very surprised by how comfortable these are (I have heard mostly good reviews on comfortableness about Vassen brand, glad they are correct!). I have really sensitive and dry eyes, so these are great. Haven't tried to wear them for a long period yet. So cannot give my word on how long these will last yet.  

Enlargement ★★★★★ 5/5 These are 14.5 mm, give you decent enlargement without making your eyes look freaky. I have relatively small eyes, so these are great size for me. My clear contacts are 13.8 mm and my usual circle lens are 14.2 mm. 

Vision   ★★★★★ 5/5 Clear vision, no problem with seeing at all. It does not move when I look away, they stay in perfect position. No blurs. 

Overall  ★★★★✩ 4/5 I give these 4 stars because of the comfort level and its enlargement. It lost one star because they do look kind of fake when you look at them close up.

I was very excited to try out the puffy 3 tone turquoise. I am a big fan of the turquoise and aqua colours. The puffy 3 tone is a great series with comfortable wears. I ordered these from Candylens

Dueba Shinny Brown (known as Puffy 3 tone) Review

My order from Candylens comes in, I have ordered the lens with their free Fedex shipping over $100 plus buy two get one pair free promotion.

Dueba Puffy 3 Tone has always been a series I wanted to try. I loved how it lighten up the eyes on all other people's pictures. However there were a couple things that I worried. One is the base curve ( these are 8.8 base curve), my eyes are 8.5. So I was worried that they won't be as comfortable or have a weird bubble. Second is the size of 14.5 mm. My normal lens are 14.00 mm or 14.2 mm. So I was worried they are going to look kind of fake.

In the end, I found that I didn't need to worry about these ones. Dueba Shinny Brow (Puffy 3 Tone) were super comfortable and my eyes did not look freaky.

Design: ★★★★★ 5/5 Love the pattern, it is very natural looking. There is a black ring, but not dominant (which I like because I prefer contacts without black rings)  They enlarge my eyes and lighten them up, make my eyes look like a natural medium/ light brown. The exact effect I am looking for. 

Comfort ★★★★★ 5/5 AMAZING! You can't even feel it. I have to say that I am very surprised by how comfortable these are. I have really sensitive and dry eyes, so these are perfect. Haven't tried to wear them for a long period yet. So cannot give my word on how long these will last yet.

How to Open Circle Lens Vials- Step by Step Pictures

Hello, when I first ordered circle lens, I wasn't really sure how to open the vials so that they don't break. If a vial breaks during the process, it is usually extremely hard to get it to open.

So here is a step by step post about opening the circle lens vials.

Step 1: Look for the mark for opening direction. 
There is usually an arrow signifying where to open. Find the arrow.

Step 2: Open the vial cap by lifting it up away from the arrow mark. 

Make sure to stop mid-way. Do not do it too fast. 

Step 3: Slowly rotate to left or right to open the second section of the vial

Once you successfully opened the vial to this stage, you are good to go. The rest will come off easily. 

Step 4:Take off the vial and take off the rubber stopper

        

Step 5: Pour the solution and the lens onto your hands in a quick motion. 

Get rid of the water, pick up the lens and put them away into lens cases. 

Step 6: Store the lens into the lens cases (make sure don't mix up left and right if you have prescription) with soft contact lens solutions.

Expressions Colors Aqua Review for Dark Brown Eyes

Hello, Again!

I owned a case of Expressions Colors Contact Lens: Aqua for while a long time, I only got one pair left and did feel like use them at all. They are suppose to be monthly disposables and I never really wear them for a month. My base curve is 8.5, these are 8.7. So sometimes they don't fit my eye so well.

Here are some of the basics:

They looked lighter than I thought, but overall what I have expected. 

So this is how I look wearing them.

Indoor lighting (Late Afternoon)

Another one with better indoor lighting, facing natural lighting.  These are okay to wear without crazy make up. I almost never wears heavy make up or fake eyelashes, so some of the circle lens looks weird on my eyes.

Haha, I could not keep my eye open for the flash. The colour looks lighter in flash. 

Here is verdict: 

Design: ★★★★✩ 4/5 They look natural enough to wear for Asians and girls who only wears light make-up. They are also a little vibrant, so people will definitely notice the colour. 

Comfort ★★★✩✩ 3.5/5 They are quite comfortable, since  I have sensitive eyes, my standard for comfort level is slightly higher than others. They are not the most comfortable pair I have encountered, but they are able to last without irritation for at least 4 -5 hours for me, which is good enough for me. As I have mentioned, the base curve of 8.7 is also slightly more curvy than my usual lens at 8.4 or 8.6. So the center pop up a little. Make them harder to take off. 

Enlargement ★★★★✩ 4/5 These are 14.4 mm, so it does give my eye enlargement. I am not sure why, but they feel more like 14.2 mm lens. It doesn't feel like some of the 14.5 lens I have tried.  

Overall ★★★★✩ 3.8/5 I give these 3.8 rating because of the nice natural aqua colour. They can be a daily wear lens, most people found them comfortable. Just make sure the base curve matches yours.

Tarte Beauty & The Box Amazonian Clay Eye Shadow Quad Review

I walked around the Sephora the other day and got attracted by Tarte Eye Shadow Quad's beautiful boxes. (see picture below)

I got the green colour one called the secret garden. I loved this one, the shadows are highly pigmented and very easy to blend together.

I loved Tarte because its products are very gentle on sensitive skins. Each box's colours go well together. It is very easy to use. Loved that it has both matte and shimmery shadows in one set, so that I can create any looks I want.

Tips: When I tried it in the store, some colours do not stay on as well as others.The Secret Garden set stayed on well.

I think the green and purple would be a great colour choice for brown eyes.

Sato Q10 Collagen Drink Review

Hi Everyone!

This is my first beauty review on this blog. About 10 days ago, my mom went to T& T Supermarket and Sato Q10 Collagen drink was doing a promotion, selling for $22 or something. Now it back to $32 original price.  It comes in a box (exactly like the picture below), each bottle contains 30 ml and a total of 10 bottles in each package. My mom heard that it can dramatically brighten your face colour and reduce fine lines. So she decide to get it for me and her to try. 


Here is a list of ingredients 

• Coenzyme Q10 (15mg)
• Collagen (500mg)
• Royal Jelly
• Amino Acid
• Vitamin B2 and B6
• Fruity Apply Lemon Flavour

So... Did it really work?

I can't really affirmatively say "yes," but after a few days of trying, I felt my skin has been smoother and my face colour has been brighter. I cannot tell it was solely the work of this drink or my improved daily eating habit (with three meals all on time), but I think my body did absorb the supplement and it worked. 

Some people say that they would have break-outs when drinking collagen, I did not experience any of it for the first 5 days, I later head a few break-outs on my forehead, so I stopped drinking it for a while. 

So here is the star ratings: 

Taste:★★★★★  5/5  It give a nice fruity taste, just like drinking a grape juice. I heard it is same for all this kind of drinks. 

Brightening Effect: ★★★★✩ 4.5/5 I felt my skin has been brighter than before, especially I was under the sun for the past few days and my face was darker than usual. I think after drinking it, my face show great improvement in colour. It was brighter. My mom also felt the same. 

Anti-Aging Effect:  ★★✩✩✩ 2/5 I don't know, I don't see a lot of great sign of anti-aging. My fine lines and dark circles under my eyes are still the same or visible. However, my mom says it did help a little for her. 

Moisturizing Effect:  ★★★✩✩ 3.5/5 I think my face is smoother and more moisturized, although not wowing effect. 

So will I get it again? 
Maybe after a few months, I might want to try again. For now, I am kind of satisfied with the results and happy with my face. LOL.

Freshkon Alluring Eyes Mystical Black

Hello~~

I got this pair of Mystical Black for quite a while now, this is the second time I order these lens, I loved them the first time because it was very comfortable and really brightened my eyes. I was wearing them on my birthday and did not purposely took photos for the review, so they might not be as good. This pretty much just a photo of me wearing the lens.

I did not put on mascara or much make up for the day.

So here are the reviews

Design: ★★★★✩ 4/5 Very natural black colour, makes my eye slightly brighter, darker. If you are looking for something with dramatic effects, this will not work for you. 

Comfort ★★★★★ 5/5 AMAZING! The lens is very thin, you can't even feel it. The water content is great and it last for a very long time. I have really sensitive and dry eyes, so these are perfect for my daily wear. It is not as good as my clear ones though. 

Enlargement ★★★✩✩ 3/5 This does give my eye enlargement by a little bit, keep in mind that they are 14.2 mm. Not 14.5 mm or 15mm. So, if you are going for a very natural look, these are great.  

Overall  ★★★★✩ 4/5 I give these 4 stars because of the comfort level and naturalness.
